Studio I - Choose from Where Were You in 1967; Kiln-Fired Glass; Explorations with Ink  

This course will give the learner an understanding of the concept that creativity is a process. As the process unfolds, the learner will employ advanced art creation skills that allow artists to develop and find their own unique visual language. An artist's statement will be developed and used as a guidepost for creating artworks for an art portfolio. There will be a framing component to further develop the learners art related skills. Ongoing assessments will take place to assist the continuation and development of the ideas and practices of being an artist.

Where Were You in 1967?
50 years later, rekindling the 60s, is a creative opportunity to inject modernity in your own contemporary work. Time travel back, re-release freedom of expression, groove on free choice paint, and psychedelic colour, anything goes. The exhibition Revolution, Montreal will ignite familiar flares of pop art, music. Make it your Happening.

Topic/Notes
Introduction to Kiln-Fired Glass
Kiln-formed glass offers the potential for many different art works. In this five-day course, students will make several projects, including a small bowl, an ornament, and a box of glass macaroons. While working and through slide shows and informal lectures participants will learn the basics of kiln-forming and the differences between this “warm” glass and its cold and hot cousins, with discussions about various processes, the proper materials, and firing techniques.

$100 materials fee due at first class.
