Introduction to Geographic Information Systems [CSMO6]  

An overview of the fundamental concepts and terminology and the role of GIS in business, government, surveying and natural resources. The course will cover the collection, management, analysis and presentation of spatial data. Additional topics will include concepts of database systems, data modeling and digital mapping. Textbook required. Software Required: Open Source Software Quantum QGIS (Works on Windows, Macs and Linux) but all instructions and tutorials will be based on a Windows environment.
