Introduction to Geographic Information Systems [CSMO6]   

Gain an understanding of GIS fundamental concepts and terminology including the role of GIS in business, government, surveying and natural resources. Learn how to create and manipulate data using GIS. Examine the collection, management, analysis and presentation of spatial data, concepts of database systems, data modeling and digital mapping. Software Required: Quantum GIS (QGIS) - free software (Works on Windows, Macs and Linux) but all instructions and tutorials will be based on a Windows environment.
