Hospitality & Tourism   

Gain an overview of the Hospitality and Tourism Industry and how the different components fit together to create value for an organization. The courses provide practical experience in some of the most common areas of the tourism and hospitality from both an operational and tactical perspective.

This micro-credential consists of four (4) required courses plus two (2) electives - one Ambassador module plus one other. Upon successful completion of six courses you will earn a digital badge.

Identify the roles and responsibilities of workers within the tourism industry (e.g., chef, server, esthetician, host, housekeeper, bartender, customer service agent, etc.), and learn how they contribute to local tourism. You'll learn about regional tourism and be able to recommend local events, attractions, and businesses to clients and visitors.

Learn how to use professional and inclusive communication and behaviour in all visitor interactions (in person, phone, and email). As a customer service professional, learn how to respond to visitor inquiries, questions, and concerns and when to utilize conflict resolution strategies. Describe products and services to visitors in an engaging way. Reflect on personal strengths, and visitor feedback, to identify areas for professional growth.

    Elevate your culinary skills. Discover the appropriate equipment such as pans, pots and food storage to use for different products and appliances. Model proper knife handling technique. Follow a recipe from selecting ingredients, calculating ingredient substitutions and conversions to choosing the appropriate cooking method and technique to achieve the desired result. Select and mix ingredients for baking and predict the final product using knowledge of ingredient mixtures, baking time and baking temperature. Examine equipment for signs of unusual wear and damage.
