This course is designed for students who possess a broadened knowledge of French and can converse using a wider range of vocabulary, pronouns and verb tenses. The focus of this course is on interpersonal communication, while continuing to reinforce and build on the four fundamental skills: oral expression, oral comprehension, as well as reading and writing. Students learn, through a variety of engaging and interactive activities, principles to sharpen their communication skills, particularly in the use of past, future, and conditional tenses. Emphasis is on expressing temporality with more accuracy as well as demonstrating increasing conversational skills such as creating narratives and participating in role plays. Pre-requisite: LANG401K. Textbook required.

In addition to a more rigorous approach to vocabulary and grammatical structures with every class the student will continue to develop everyday situations practiced at earlier levels. Grammatical sentence structures are more complex at this level with the expansion of the past, present, future and conditional verb tenses. Articles from French speaking Canada serve as language models and provide a cultural perspective on current issues. Towards the end of the course language skills include the ability to convey necessity, obligation, probability, and or expectation with regards to past experiences, work and education and the future.
