Additional program information for Marine Emergency Duties-Domestic Vessel Safety (MED) is available here. Participants who complete the training are issued a Transport Canada certificate.   

To ensure this course is appropriate, participants are strongly encouraged to confirm with a Transport Canada Marine Safety examiner which MED course is required for the type of trade and the size and type of vessel in which they are seeking certification or employment.

    This course is compliant with the requirements of the Marine Personnel Regulations on minimum training in personal survival techniques and fire fighting for Canadian seafarers sailing on board passenger vessels, workboats, or fishing vessels engaged on a voyage in domestic waters.  It replaces the MED A1 & MED A2 courses.

    This course highlights potential hazards and emergencies aboard ship and gives you the knowledge you need in order to respond effectively.  The three day training provides practical experience including pool exercises and the handling of firefighting equipment and flares.  Participants who complete the training are issued a Transport Canada certificate.
