Yoga
Learn to create and lead group exercise class in yoga fitness. Acquire the skills to monitor and modify classes to meet participant needs and abilities. Topics include creating flows, learning how to modify and progress a beginner class and practice effective and safe leadership skills. Successful completion of this course qualifies you for the OFP Yoga Fitness Certification.
Spin
Build on your current skills and learn to create and lead group exercise class in spin (indoor cycle). Develop your instinctual and perception skills to monitor and modify classes to meet participant needs and abilities. Topics include phrasing, cueing music and effective and safe leadership. Successful completion of this course qualifies you for the OFC Spin Certification.
Group Fitness
In this course, students gain practical experience required to plan and instruct a safe and effective group exercise class. Topics include phrasing and cueing music, leadership and motivational techniques, components of a fitness class, and monitoring proper exercise technique. Students will have the opportunity to obtain a group fitness certification through Ontario Fitness Council.
Senior Fitness
Examine and perform a variety of exercises that are suitable for the aging population. Learn how to create and implement fitness, health and exercise programs to meet the needs of this demographic. Successful completion of this course qualifies you to become and OFC certified in Senior Adult Fitness.
Resistance Training
Beginning with a review of the basics of a variety of fitness facilities, learn to safely take clients through a basic resistance training program and demonstrate safety protocols on exercise machines. Successful completion of this course qualifies you for the Resistance Training certification from OFC.
Personal Training
Through practical hands-on exercises develop the skills and knowledge required to effectively create safe individualized exercise programs for clients based on health background and activity level. This course includes the mechanics of movement, correcting exercise form, applying the principles of training and program design for cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, mobility and flexibility. Successful completion of this course qualifies you for the OFC Personal Training Certification.
