*Prerequisite: A diploma in Fitness and Health, or a degree in Kinesiology.
In this course, learners apply knowledge gained to create and lead group exercise class in yoga fitness. Learners monitor and modify classes to meet participant needs and abilities. Topics include creating flows, learning how to modify and progress a beginner class and practice effective and safe leadership skills. Participants will have the opportunity to obtain a yoga fitness certification through Ontario Fitness Council.
Note: for those participants who want to become certified, a practical assessment will be scheduled with the instructor.

In this course, students gain practical experience required to plan and instruct a safe and effective group exercise class. Topics include phrasing and cueing music, leadership and motivational techniques, components of a fitness class, and monitoring proper exercise technique. Students will have the opportunity to obtain a group fitness certification through Ontario Fitness Council.

This course will teach the students about a variety of exercises that are suitable for the aging population. The students will learn how to create and implement fitness, health and exercise programs to meet the needs of this demographic. The students will obtain a Senior Adult Fitness certification from OFC upon completion of this course.

This course will teach the students about the basics of a variety of fitness facilities. The students will be able to safely take a client through a basic resistance training program and demonstrate safety protocols on exercise machines. The students will obtain a Resistance Training certification from OFC upon completion of this course.

In this course, students gain practical experience and develop knowledge to effectively create safe individualized exercise programs for clients based on health background and activity level. The students will learn through experience and personal training community members. This course includes the mechanics of movement, correcting exercise form, applying the principles of training and program design for cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, mobility and flexibility. Students will have the opportunity to obtain a personal training certification through Ontario Fitness Council.
